Buena Park City Council District 3
OCCET Action endorses Susan Sonne for Buena Park City Council District 3.
Susan Sonne is a businessperson in the IT field. She is involved with the nonprofit groups Buena Park Collaborative and the Buena Park Community Resource Center, which work on local issues including housing and mental health. Sonne served in the Buena Park Police Chief’s Advisory Board and the Buena Park Beautification-Environmental Commission.
Sonne’s top priorities include:
- educating residents on public health in the era of the COVID-19
- ensure issue experts, and not the police, to address social concerns
- affordable housing

Buena Park
Buena Park has five City Council members. City Council members establish city policy, pass ordinances, and vote on the budget. The Council appoints a City Manager, who oversees the administration of the city; and selects one council member to serve as the mayor.
Buena Park transitioned from at-large elections to district elections in 2016 in compliance with the Voting Rights Act.
City Council members for District 3 and District 4 will be elected in 2020.
