Job: Research Analyst II

Under the supervision of OC Action’s Research Director, the Research Analyst II will conduct data collection and analysis supporting the aligned research agenda of Orange County’s largest integrated voter engagement table. The Research Analyst II will help develop focus groups designed to assess voter attitudes and test messages, both as part of key electoral and legislative campaigns to engage with and learn from Latinx, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, and Filipinx community members in Orange County. The Research Analyst II will also support other research projects, including public opinion polling and post-election, strategic, and policy analyses.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct qualitative research, including focus groups, and analyze qualitative data.
  • Use data analysis, GIS software to acquire, manage, and analyze census, voter, and other quantitative data.
  • Create tables and graphics that capture research findings.
  • Draft written narrative describing research findings.
  • Present research findings to diverse audiences, including community-based organizations and policy makers.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service meetings, organizational retreats, and professional development training.
  • Perform any other functions as needed by management and agency.
Minimum Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Understanding of qualitative research methodology.
  • Experience conducting qualitative research, including focus groups.
  • Experience using data analysis, GIS software to acquire, manage, and analyze census, voter, and other quantitative data.
  • Experience creating tables and graphics that capture research findings.
  • Experience drafting written narrative describing research findings.
  • Experience presenting research findings to diverse audiences, including community-based organizations and policy makers.
  • Ability to use CIVIS and SQL to analyze voter data preferred.
  • Masters degree with two years or Bachelor’s degree with five years experience required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Must be comfortable with the philosophy and goals of OC Action.
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends.
  • Current and valid California Driver’s License and transportation to travel to conferences, meetings, and trainings; verification of car insurance is required.
  • Verification of employment eligibility and background check required.
Non-Essential Qualifications
  • Ability to use PDI voter data system to set up flags and survey questions, create field lists, coordinate and cut turf, and report on field outcomes.
  • Ability to use third party voter engagement platforms, including phonebanking, texting, and other tools.
  • Ability to train others on the use of PDI, third-party voter engagement platforms.
  • Ability to coordinate use of PDI, third party voter engagement platforms with field staff and external partners.

Job: Field Data Coordinator

Under the supervision of OC Action’s Research Director, the Field Data Coordinator will help manage use of the organization’s PDI system and supporting voter engagement tools to facilitate successful electoral and issue-based campaigns. This includes using PDI to set up flags and survey questions, create lists, and coordinate and cut turf, using third party phone banking, field canvassing, texting, e-mail, and other tools to facilitate voter contact, providing nightly field reports to Table partners, and participating in daily strategy meetings. The Field Data Coordinator will also analyze voter data in support of OC Action research projects, including post-election, strategic, and other analyses.

Job: Civic Engagement Manager

In collaboration with the Civic Engagement team, the Civic Engagement Manager will implement and manage OC Action’s integrated voter engagement (IVE) strategy, civic engagement activities and program capacity building, in service to the achievement of the alliance’s goals and objectives. This can look like: nonpartisan and partisan voter mobilization and GOTV efforts, advocacy and community organizing, leadership development, community education, and supporting the integration of civic engagement strategies into alliance partners’ organizational programming. The Civic Engagement Manager will also embody OC Action’s mission and values and be able to speak to the needs of OC Action’s participants and communities.

Essential Functions
  • Execute the implementation, coordination, and management of IVE efforts for OC Action campaigns including field – door to door canvassing, phone banking, text banking, traditional and digital media, community forums, etc
  • Provide coaching and trainings to Alliance Leads who are building and strengthening their IVE infrastructure, programs, and skills
  • Assess and identify opportunities for leadership development for Alliance Leads
  • Co-create and support existing civic engagement programs
  • Facilitate evaluation of program effectiveness, and draft qualitative and quantitative reports on the outcomes of the civic engagement program
  • Co-develop and finalize annual civic engagement plans and budgets
  • Strengthen the alliance ecosystem and connect stakeholders by centering and bridging relationships across Alliance Lead organizers, Executive leadership, and external allies
  • Work with diverse stakeholders on issues related to governance, economic justice, housing, health, education, immigrant rights, environmental justice, and worker’s rights
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, staff trainings, programs, and supervision sessions
  • Perform any other functions as needed by management and the organization
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in developing and carrying out issue campaigns, voter engagement, and/or voter mobilization
  • Experience in voting rights and social justice issues, electioneering, and/or public policy
  • Willingness to engage in relationship building and conflict resolution with diverse stakeholders
  • Must be comfortable with the philosophy and goals of OC Action
  • Experience with underserved communities
  • Ability to work in a diverse team and overcome obstacles
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required
